Following a format similar USA Swimming’s Golden Goggle Awards, we are hosting our Golden Peach Awards. This year there are two twists: they will be held virtually via social media posts/announcements AND we are doing awards for Age Group swimmers (ages 11-14) and then awards for Senior Swimmers (ages 15-18). This is to acknowledge and celebrate a wider variety of athletes while also helping save our families some money, and hopefully bringing something joyful to our athletes during a hard time. Awards will be shipped to the athletes club team.
Online nominations are being taken from April 19th - June 4th in the following categories:
- All Star acknowledgments
- Every All Star athlete will be presented with a towel (shipped in April) and a certificate.
- Breakout Performer of the Year
- This award is given to an athlete whose performance(s) stand out in relation to other years.
- Perseverance Award
- This award is given to the athlete who came back from adversity, retirement, sickness, injury, etc., to have an outstanding performance in the last year.
- Relay Performance of the Year
- This award is given to the best team relay performance, male or female.
- Disability Athlete of the Year
- This award is given to an athlete with a physical and/or intellectual impairment who has succeeded in the pool.
- Female Athlete of the Year*
- Male Athlete of the Year*
Just presented during the Senior Awards, not both:
- Emerging Coach Award
- This award is given to a coach who has been coaching in the Georgia Swimming LSC for five (5) years or less and embodies the spirit of the coaching role.
- Volunteer of the Year
- This award is given to a volunteer who has been involved in the Georgia Swimming LSC for two (2) years or more and embodies the spirit of Georgia Swimming LSC.
- Pete Junkins Award (Official of the Year) (Not issued for 20-21)
- This award is given to an official who has been involved in the Georgia Swimming LSC for two (2) years or more and embodies the spirit of Georgia Swimming LSC.
- Betsy Dunbar Award
- Bill Young Award
*The 2020 Top 3 performing females from Age Group (14 and under) and the Top 3 performing females for Senior (15 and over) based on competition data will be on the ballot for voting June 7th-18th. Nominations are not being taken for this category.
After nominations close on June 5, the second round of online voting will take place for the slate of nominees to determine each category’s winner. The second round of voting will take place June 7-18th, all winners will be announced via Instagram and Facebook on July 18th for Age Group swimmers and July 25th for Senior swimmers.
